The follow-up to ‘No Sleep’ is an inventive set which shows how the German minimal techno blueprint now so slavishly copied around the world is heading into yet further-out, previously-unchartered regions, bringing in elements like free jazz and avant garde over the hanging-on-for-life four-four groove. ‘Horizontal’ takes a dissonant loop and builds with drone piano, mutant vocal cutups and freeform piano – an approach taken even further with the spacier, disjointed ‘Dizzy’. The gripping strangeness of the EP is compounded with the disembodied tones of ‘Sabana’. Intoxicating stuff but you can still dance to it!
