I do like wonky jolly pop, not wonky lollipops (although I like those too) but in musical terms, I make no secret of loving a well crafted, short and sweet pop song with an unexpected twist. ‘For You’ is just that – Gavin’s smooth and seductive vocal is layered over three different – Bearcubs stand it in front of their warped bassline fair ground mirror for a smooth and seductive dance floor tease whilst J.U.D.G.E creates a hazy and hot , slo-mo shuffle that rises to meet the bassline then falls so you can catch your breath. It’s lush. Really. F.T.S.E closes the package with a stripped down electronic take that folds the vocal like origami whilst the chinese sounding keys and hook sweeten it all.
