No excuse needed to praise the classic sound of Nervous Records unbeatable 90’s output as this latest from Gina Turner & Tony Quattro proudly testifies, although all with a 2015 sting of course. ‘Top Cat’ feels deliberately nervous with New York’s edgier sounds and flavours fuelling intense rhythms amid horn blasts and hot vocal stabs. The Dub Mix then gives the signature Trumpet more room to groove while drumming into you with insistent hi-hats and shuffling vocal hits. ‘That Trumpet Track’ completes the first rate release with yet more sassy horn and taught drum hits, this time aided by bouncing techno stabs and all round excellence.
