The 1993 Masters at Work (Louie Vega and Kenny ‘Dope’ Gonzalez) and Barbra Tucker classic returns to the MMXV Defected roster and dancefloors showcased with a brace of remixes from Low Steppa, Shadow Child, DJ T, Harry Romero, Mr V and UMM’s Alex Natale. Low Steppa steers it in a previously uncharted direction, gracefully hyper jacking it into a rich, MAW versus Armand Van Helden reminiscent rhythmic beatdown that gracefully skids, skates and naked wrestles its way through the viscous oil slick of a dirty garage sub bassline until boom of babies dancefloor on there is. Meanwhile, ShadowChild creates a shimmering shuffle hustle with a subtle plucked bassline and cracker jack snares to usher you on your way. DJ T works the trickle-down keys riff into a high-spirited early roller and Alex Natale snips and clips Barbra Tucker’s vocal then threads it into the fabric of a crazy, repetitive late night dub. Check the Harry Romero remix for a depth charged jazzatronic hybrid that will have you stroking your goatee whilst simultaneously disappearing into the matrix and don’t gloss over Mr V’s reworking, since he smoothes out the ruffles and just like a soulful house gigolo whispers with hot breath on your skin until the baby hairs on your neck bristle in anticipation. The original is also there if you need to go compare but there’s plenty here to keep you occupied on any dancefloor and in any situation. The ‘Deep Inside’ experience just got that bit deeper.
