Vancouver’s Nordic Trax deliver an extremely desirable package of main room house from Johnny Fiasco, his first release for the label. The title track is a winner, beautifully done with a shimmering progression of four chords going round in a hypnotic circle over a fulsome bass drum beat, and some nice atmospherics panning in and out. A bit West Coast but with attitude. The dub is much more in your face, more aggressive with its acidic riff and whispered vocal that gets taken over by a rush of white noise. Meanwhile extra track ‘On & On’ is a piece of peak time action, with a ticking riff in the foreground but a much bigger rush of dancefloor goodness.
