Los Pastores ‘Los Pastores with collaborations’ (Oblack)

Los Pastores make the kind of bass heavy tech house that works so well in the Balearic sunshine, the rolling rhythms that give Apollonia their hip shaking prowess or Marco Carola his early swagger, and this collaborations LP flexes that acumen.

None of this is bringing anything new to electronic music, but it does when hitting the high points showcase some great dancefloor finesse. ‘Marked’ with System 2 is the soundtrack to Circo Loco just as things start cooking on that majestic terrace, whilst the Juliche Hernandez powered ‘Issues’ is a lovely mid pace groover that doesn’t do much other than hold it’s line perfectly – crucial for jocks in it for the long haul.

‘Aimed’ with Aldo Cadiz manages to blend clunky percussion with a robotic funk undercurrent that sounds like a reined in Luke Solomon (by no means a bad thing). Cadiz also helps power ‘Desayuno De Campeones’. a sprawling nine minute epic that tunnels through computer game bleeps and an oh so now sample of rapper dialogue. Their the four highlights but the other tracks are still competent and bound to find flavour with many, so well worth seeking out.
