Lucio Malatoid – Excitement EP – (Malatoid Records)

Fans of no frills, slick and synthetic tech house music that is dry and functional already know the work of Lucio Malatoid. He is an Italian who has been active for years, often working with his brother and releasing on his own eponymous label. Here though he flies solo and lays down one brand new regional that comes with three solid remixes from big name players.

Malatoid’s original track is a slick, bubbling tech hose number with blasts of white noise, lumpy drums, rubber kicks and plenty of minimal aesthetics. The standout remix comes from Eddy Romero & Frink, who layer up their drums, grooves and synth lines into compelling patterns that really weave their way into your mind body and soul. Martin Patino goes for a slightly more vibe and colourful house leaning remix and Malandra Jr opts for the darkest, techies version of the lot. It’s perfect for those tense peak times and rounds out a another great Ep from this collective.
