Made in Paris – Dancing In The Dark (Motorik)

We don’t often hear from Australian labels over here in Europe, but one that has been bubbling away for a while now is Motorik. As well as being a label it is an occasional event series and now it puts out an 18th EP that comes from Made in Paris aka a young and talented beat maker who was discovered at an after party. Her three solid originals come backed with remixes from TRACE7000, Heretic and Lyndon Kidd. Up first is the title track, Dancing in the Dark, which is a stark and main room bit of techno with tough synths, square wave bass and lots of angst in its forceful grooves. As the pads spray about in monstrous fashion you cannot help but get swept up. Defused is a deeper, more subdued house cut that bubbles and boils and really gets under your skin. Trippy little synths and sweeping white noise adds plenty of intrigue and drama to what is a great club slaying cut. Trust Me is her last original and is again a totally different proposition from the other cuts. It is a tech-y, dark and broody roller that will really make the dance floor a spooky yet involving place. The remix by Lyndon Kidd is driven by crisp claps and sci-fi synths, slick and efficient it is a great cut for late at night. The title track is the other one up for remix and it becomes a bubbly, dark acid monster in the hands of TRACE7000 and a slow, spacious and curious crawler in the hands of Heretic. Overall, an essential package.
