The Lamour label has a special package of remixes for its next release. The artist who made the originals is the talented Motormännen, but remixing are Manic Brothers, Inter Gritty, Nina Khak and Ragnar Atari. All are skilled producers who have their own unique styles and here they tackle different tracks from Motormännen’s well received debut album. “Motormännen makes information age techno spiced with Swedish nostalgia through a filter of retro futuristic skepticism” says the label, and here that original vibe gets carefully reworked by some knowing producers.
Mellanvåg (Manic Brothers Remix) is a broody techno roller with stomping kick and frazzled, intergalactic synths. It makes you want to move and is sure to own on the floor. Smalspåret (Inter Gritty Remix) is even harder, with spooky atmospheres and rock solid kicks making for a proper warehouse banger. Dagslåneräntan (Nina Khak Remix) flips the original on its head and conjures up a bleepy, Jeff Mills style minimal techno roller that journeys into deepest space. Expansionen (Ragnar Atari Remix) is the last but not least to come on this fine package and is a trippy number with great synths that pan about and some sweeping filters to really lift you up. Overall it’s a top techno offering.
