Mr. G does more of what he does best with this latest selection of grooves for Monique Musique. Displaying the same panache as his ‘State Of Flux’ long player for Rekids the release opens with ‘Heavy Gal’ accompanied by splashing 909 hats, punchy organ chords and smoove ‘Get on down’ vocals. Stand out track, ‘Lost In Translation’ follows with typically heavy -duty beats and bass combining with old-school claps and insistent synth lines to reach fever-pitch along the way. Next stand out track, ‘My Sound’ then relentlessly pounds a classic Disco loop into your consciousness with an array of stabs and surprisingly subtle emotive sounds feeling soulful too.
