Pirupa – Party Non Stop – (Defected Records)

Originally appearing on Locodice’s Desolat earlier in the year Defected have now astutely re-released it with remixes from Huxley and Riva Starr. You couldn’t get a more apt title, certainly in Huxley’s mind, as his banging combination of sharp beats and sizzling hi-hats become all the more powerful with the addition of infectious vocals and abrasive bass. Huxley’s sound has been defined by a particular set of influences which he has since made all his own, with this sounding like a shining example. Riva Starr adds a more bouncy groove cumulating in an Electro (as in early eighties) breakdown, although whether this has the same impact is totally up to you. The original also appears, still sounding fresh, with its breaks and breakdowns always working a treat.
