Oh crikey. With the Faul and Wad Ad copy cat onslaught, one wouldn’t be mistaken in saying that it’s the summer of sax. Now here come Naxxos with ‘New Orleans’ and yet another mother of all sax solo tracks. The original parps away like the Muppet Show’s Zoot and Lisa Simpson getting it on behind the theatre curtains. Add a lightly Benny Hill / Avicii ‘Brother’ EDM ho-down twist and you might be mistaken for thinking it’s all about the supermarket soundtrack at first listen. Leave it playing on a loop like I did and I guarantee you that it will worm its way into your good books like a teacher’s pet with a store full of crunchy red Gala apples. The Mr Belt and Wezol remix is much cooler, since it works the piano just as hard as the sax and bounces around on a darker bassline with that blacked out windows, garridge-y feel and the ‘you got the feeling’ vocal loop until it makes me want to invest in an M&S Autograph suit, find myself a WAG and have it large in the VIP section in Boujis.
