If one mix sums up why remixers add a whole new dimension to a track and should be credited with not only reproduction status, but also the fees to accompany it, look no further then Soulshaker energised redesigned of ‘Bonafide’. Between them Paul Harris and Steve Mac have chalked up dozens of acclaimed dance hits, with a fair few crossovers in the process too, while Obernik is perhaps best known for fronting the Tim Deluxe smash ‘It Just Won’t Do’. And yet their original versions (along with Magik Johnson’s) are far too tracky and underground for most. Enter right of stage siblings Warren & Matt Meyers, with the able assistance of Kelly Mueller whom inject some much needed fun, funk and panache to the track making it sparkle and shimmer with a feel-good disco-etched version that takes a decidedly Freemasons-approach to things, bringing it to life and showing the song’s anthemic nature in the process. Job well done boys and girls.
