Raw District – Underrated EP (Moon Harbour)

You can always rely on Leipzig based label Moon Harbour to come up with the dancefloor goods. Years after starting out they still find freshness in tech house, and enlist artists old and new to help them do so. Here they look to the new school with a fine debut EP from Raw District, aka a pair of Belgian producers and label bosses that know how to cook up a tantalising groove. Their two top originals are boosted by a remix from Davide Squillace.

That Italian cannot steal the limelight from the Belgian duo tho. Their cut Their Eyes here is a perfectly simmering deep house cut with pressurised drums really getting under your skin. It is smooth and serene with spacious vibes and bulbous bass. Elsewhere they use a great vocal from acclaimed US vocalist Forrest to great effect. His libidinous calls get layered into Underrated, a streamlined cut with edgy, angelic chords and stiff perc that makes you move your ass. This one gets remixed by This and That boss Squillace. He goes for the jugular and makes it a more peak time and out there cut with metal hits, tough drums and a forceful sense of energy that rounds out an essential package of dance floor bombs.
