Renato Ratier – Weather – (Get Physical)

Brazilian DJ/producer Renato Ratier has made great strides in his time, so much so that he’s now revered as much for his productions as he is for the brains behind the D-Edge club and label. His latest production sees him don the get Physical shirt, which any self respecting house head will tell you, is quite the accolade for virtually any electronically-inclined producer. And a great job he does at releasing on the label too.The Weather EP then, gets going with the sounds of the brilliant title track. A mysterious but effervescent slice of moody electronica, it keeps us enthralled to the last thanks to its heavy reliance on the synths and its penchant for the unpredictable. ‘Outhere’ sees him really come into his own, as he conjures up a track that’s suited to the colourful dancefloors of Brazil and the Balearics especially. Guillaume & The Coutu Dumonts (whom Merchant / o we’ve been told, is actually just one dude), gives it a gentle re-rub, although he’s clever to maintain the original’s spine ion the process. It’s the finer of the remixes, even though Vaal’s twinkle-toed version has its merits too. House music from the very top drawer.
