Robert Hood
Alpha/Omega (End Times)
M-Plant

Here’s one to shake not only the floor but techno future’s very under crackers as, once again, Robert Hood demonstrates how he’s second to none when it comes causing maximum carnage with minimum ingredients. Coming as a taste of his upcoming concept album based on classic 1971 sci-fi movie The Omega Man, the two tracks pack the customary punch but weave the topping and all-important percussive elements with even deadlier skill than before. ‘Alpha’ rides an ominous drone and relentless thunder-groove, peppered with flicks, twists and rotor-blade effects, cleverly taking his Minimal Nation blueprint into new stratas without fuss or over-cooking. ‘Omega [End Times]’ is darker and merciless, again given an extra dimension of dynamics with subtle tweaks but also blessed with a scrotum-scything razor sequence. As it rampages on, the track heads into avant-soundtrack meteor showers, resetting the techno bar again with the minimum of fuss but maximum passion on what is obviously a project close to his heart.
