Roland Nights is the InnerCity Records label boss and here he serves up a firing new EP that features three great house cuts. The release, on the PIV Records label, also comes backed with a dope remix from Freydel & Osaka and is the sort of thing that DJs simply need in their bags, because each track really goes off. The style throughout is house with a classic bent. Opener Recall has cute bass stabs, squelchy drums that roll on and on and a fine vocal sample that adds that all important human element. It is vibes and colourful and is sure to do well. Play It Down is then built on rock solid kick drums, with rattling perc and lively synths and pads that speak of real soul. Again the vocal line is key to making this stand out, which it surely will. Chicago Soul then gets all jacked up, with razor sharp hi hats and rubbery beats making for a physical track that really demands you move. The remix is another fine cut, and one that goes deep and moody, and in doing so rounds out an essential little EP.
