Guy Gerber’s ‘Rumors’ label erupts again with Seth Troxler’s late night caller ‘Evangelion’. It’s a strong look with a strong yet simple, insistent acidic bass line hook. Then pianos. And a spying psycho scratching to get out from between your ceilings and floorboards. It’s eerie, creepy and will sound amazing in a big, dark room. Jonson and Simiski add a Chi-town, ragtime bounce to the psycho ward whispers and off kilter beats, keys and chords. It’s all about the syncopation here so you have to have your mixing and dancing wits about you. Take my advice, dance to the space between the notes until the kick drops. Thank me later.
