Nicolas Abalos is Shall Ocin, an Argentine producer who has been making big moves on top labels like Culprit and Maceo Plex’s Ellum Audio. He is someone with a fine set of studio skills and is able to cook up all sorts of freaky sounds. He does that here when married to big main room grooves and as such makes a fine debut on Hotflush, the label run by Berlin based Brit Paul Rose aka Scuba.
The pick here is The Mist, a monstrous main room techno track with big bold bass, pumping percussion and meandering drones that all add up to an intense and locked in experience full of energy. On the flip, The Cliff is a little deeper, with metallic drums and all sorts of freaky little bits of sound design that really stand out and keep you locked into the propulsive 7 minute plus groove. Overall, a fine EP from a fine producer.
