Simon Baker Presents BKR Projekt – The Saffron EP – (BKR Projekt)

Simon Baker returns to his bespoke label with a second ep of deliciously ticklish techno. Saffron is pure metalliic wonkiness, like playing singing bowls filled with water in the sunshine – then watching these drop kicked wilfully yet in slow motion into a field of tall, waving corn. It’x just for us to catch the wave and this we do voluntarily and with ease. ‘Ginger’ gives a sharp elbow in the ribs with its high pitched synth loop, water drop keys, percussive vocal scat, splashing snares and a bassline that will surprise you when it drops. Dance floor catnip. ‘Fuzzy’ is a black out and strobes special with its laser shot and repetitive clave rhythm patterns, growling and burring frog synth chorus and sexy rolling subs. ‘Fuzzy’ has a dub too for extended and self indulgent play. I heart Simon Baker – he makes techno with soul and groove for days. Respect.
