Trus’Me – Treat Me Right – (Remixed)

Trus’ Me has long been a stalwart of the international house and techno scene. In the early days he released sample heavy soul and disco albums that were packed with authentic vintage textures, but for his latest album Treat Me Right he has headed much more into techno territory. As he often does on his label, following the release of the album came slew of great remixes that have all been collected here and read like a who’s who of modern techno from across the world. Up first are Skudge, the Swedish dup who favour economical and efficient techno forms. Their version of ‘Moonlight Kiss’ is just that – a loopy, full fat banger. Elsewhere French man and Workshop associate Marcelus goes for a much more heady, minimalistic and trippy techno work out that sounds like a lost Jeff Mills cut and Detroit deepsmith and frequent Omar S foil Luke Hess translates ‘I Want You’ into a deep, dubbed out and teasing bit of techno that keeps you on the edge throughout.Truncate then turns out two remixes, the first is a wonky bit of lo-fi techno funk with pixelated melodies and raw claps, and the second is lumpy, hypnotic affair that is loopy and engaging. Truss, one of the UK’s finest current techno talents, does his intricate and finely detailed thing with ‘Defunct’, flipping it into a serene late night affair that is smooth and soothing in equal measure. As well as a meaty, stomping remix from Alan Fitzpatrick, Roman Flugel makes a typically big impression with his version of ‘Somebody’, a supple, elastic bit of freaky afterparty techno that burrows ever deeper throughout its duration. Everyone to a tee comes good here, and the names elected to remix show once again that Trus Me has his finger firmly on the pulse.
