If you like tunnelling techno for the mind, then this new EP on the always excellent Rejected is for you. It comes from a Dutch producer who has long ties with the label dating back to previous works in 2013, and is another fine link between the two. That man is Wouter de Moor and is someone who has ties with cool labels like Get Physical and Trapez but it seems to me that he has saved his best work for this label.
Across three tracks he really showcases his skills at amazing moody music that is both effective and functional but also stuffed with feeling and emotion. There is lots to love, then, and it is hard to pick a favourite jam. Pinolini is a main room techno roller with bleeping melodies and ticking hits that sound like a long lost Detroit cut. Mod17 is then more bubbly and dark, intense and stripped back but is just as essential. Finally, Unified Field shows another side to this producer that is just as good: he pairs big hard kicks with delicate synth details and the overall effect is truly hypnotic. This is a vital three track EP for anyone looking to drop the sort of techno tunes that people really remember long after they have stopped playing.
