Originally linked to Chicago’s ruff’n’ready filtered house scene, Laidback Luke leans more towards the Swedish maffia these days, although his love for all things Daft Punk remains apparent. Kicking off with a tribal groove, electro synths and male rappin’ ‘Start Me Up’ turns into French-flavoured funky pop as the chorus kicks in, the kind of record that equally works on the dancefloor and the radio. ‘Down With Mustard’ goes for a more heads-down tip, stripped-down and still quite ravey with the obligatory breakdowns.
