Fifth instalment on Nik Weston’s Mukatsuku imprint, this time showcasing the
talents of Sweden’s Hanna & Beatr8. “Better Than Nothing” is a fabulous
downtempo jam based around slow, syrupy beats, jazzed out licks and Hanna’s
dreamlike vocals, pitched perfectly against the warm backdrop. Of the
remixes, Bakura’s teases the song out for the dancers over a
latin-influenced broken beat that sports some lush boogie touches and really
gives it some old school flavour. Guynamite sticks closer to the original
tempo with a spacey breaks and bass production that comes alive on a big
system (watch for the cool breakdown, too). Another essential release from
Mukatsuku.
