I’ve always been a sucker for sexy & mystic Asian vibes, especially on the dance floor, enhancing whatever your poison is on that particular occasion. Punk A Wallahs’ remix of kronos Quartet & Asha Bostle’s “Dum Maro Dum” is a future Balearic classic, opening with a shuffling snare pattern & a rogue synth, it breaks down to reveal one of the most mesmerising vocals I’ve heard in ages, alongside ghostly backing, & accompanied by distant & intricate strumming, riding on driving breaks that are interspersed with wind up drum rolls. If you can imagine a more subtle & sophisticated take of what Fatboy Slim did to Cornershop, then you’re heading in the right direction. This record just oozes dancing on a beach at sunrise.
