A small but perfectly formed pop overture to being taunted by the memories of lost youth. Cleverly draped in an aura of nostalgia the way that acts like Pulp used to be able to conjure, it’s remarkably upbeat and jangly, the kind of tune you’ll be whistling before you even realise you’re doing it. “Un-Slept” is a topic anyone who’s had a good weekend can relate to – insomnia. Slightly dark but with a curious lullaby quality to it, it’s another example of Mr Idol’s uncanny knack for capturing great pop and giving it a bit of a Lost Idol knead.
