Malcolm Middleton used to be one half of the now sadly defunct Arab Strap. But he soldiered on with his own ideas and last month released his third solo album ‘A Brighter Beat’, which recieved critical acclaim across the board. ‘Beep Beep, I Love You’ is one of the stand out cuts on Malcolm Middletons new LP, only it’s been doctored so it doesn’t offend radio, TV and all round general busy bodies. Y’see in it’s original form it’s called ‘Fuck It, I Love You’, which I think sounds better, especially when it’s a love song as honest as this. ‘Fuck It, I love you. There you go, three little words on a mobile phone. When are you coming home’. With feel good strumming and hooky melodies, this cute bittersweet number deserves to be all over the airwaves.
