This is something pretty special, an album of breaks that breaks the rules and throws in any sort of music it chooses. While that sounds like a recipe for disaster, the elements are all used for the good of the music and come to fruition in tracks like ‘Champion Selection’, where a held chord gives way to a superb blend of spacious textures and vocal snips, or the big boned dancefloor action of the closing ‘Act Now’. There’s enough energy here to power a small town, and with a dash of humour and some serious funk added to the mix you’ll be hanging off the ceiling by the end!
