This is in fact the second album of Joseph Mount’s conception, and with his band-mates he’s made an invigorating listen. ‘Nights Out’ is surprisingly brief but is a record confirming the outfit as a fully-fledged trio, with a few vocal numbers that bring Mount forward as a decent front man. ‘My Heart Rate Rapid’ and ‘Heartbreaker’ are especially good, while the intro and ‘The End Of You Too’ throw up some intriguing colour combinations and styles. There’s nothing here that’s over-conventional, despite the influences taken, and it all sounds ‘live’, rather than something cobbled together on a computer. Interesting stuff, and a real step forward.
