A boho three-pronged soundclash of which Yarah Bravo starts to rule about halfway through, not just invited to give the odd sassy hook line but mixing up raps and sung notes in connecting Jean Grae and Sarah Jones. Blu Rum 13, the more awkward, wordier version of Mos Def tying himself in half-knots, benefits from Vadim’s lack of interference, the Russian Percussionist coming up with greater cheer having perfected the art of gloom. Even if he’s not exactly turning cartwheels, blunted brainwaves weave their way around his usual scrubby backstreets taking in foreign sights during restless, sweat-cloaked nights.
