Paul Weller is set to release his 10th studio LP “Wake Up The Nation” in April, but before it comes the double A-sided single, featuring the belting title cut and a brilliant remix of another new track “No Tears To Cry”. I don’t know what the album version sounds like, but Leo Zero’s mix of “No Tears To Cry” really is something a bit special. Building on a blazing sixties soulful groove, layers of strings, percussion, piano and all manner of sunshine effects merge into a glorious modern “Wall Of Sound”, after 2mins 36secs of spellbinding wonder, in comes Paul Weller as you’ve never heard him before, he sounds like Scott Walker, but he still sounds like he really means it. Genius! Leo Zero’s remix lasts an exhilarating and mesmerising 8 minutes, leaving you gobsmacked and wanting more. The Modfather shows who’s boss.
