Part Time Heroes offer an exclusive salsa-fried remix of Uptyme’s “Compatible” for this latest “Shapes” 12″ from Tru Thoughts. It sets the party bar just right – pure bass tones and an infectious chorus combined to make this a guaranteed anthem. Alice Russell’s “Mirror Mirror..” is typically lush folk-soul, given a bit of a shuffle by the always great Bonobo; there’s an extended funk workout from Will Holland’s Quantic Soul Orchestra with “Paintings & Journeys”, reason enough alone to purchase. But don’t overlook the sensational nu-soul of Spengler’s “Good Thing”. Soul, funk, salsa and beats – a perfect mix.
