Two further adventures into the exploration of cosmic 70’s jazz from the Deja Vu stable. Sun Ra Tribute is – you guessed it – a rework of one of the master’s many classics, highlighting June Tyson’s original voice to great effect on Yannah Valdevit’s remix. Gerardo Frisina also provides two completely different alternatives, mixing in Coltrane like influences amidst dark swirling atmospheres. Panoptikum bravely decide upon a cover of “Black Land Of The Nile”, an obscure 70’s jazz classic by Masequa & Jami Ayinde. They bring it up-to-date with fusion inflected keys and almost house-tempoed beats. Heavy and enlightening in equal measures.
