Foals are back in the spotlight, their new album “Total Life Forever” is due May 10th, and the teaser first cut from it is “The Orient”. I don’t know what the actual LP track is like, but the “Starkey Remix” is absolutely brilliant, as banks of fat, delicate and moody synthesizers hover over R&B rhythms, while the powerful gritty vocals just get stronger and stronger, building to a peak before the whole thing drifts off into outer space. Foals have taken a leaf out of Depeche Mode’s book and they are certainly making a mighty splash, be prepared to get your lighters out. Hope they’ve worked out a dance routine to go with this. Superb.
