Tiga is set to release a series of 12″ remixes, 1 a week for 4 weeks. “Sex O’Clock” gets us off to a gobsmacking start with it’s outstanding style. Trevor Jackson is up first at the controls in his Playgroup guise, creating a fat slab of pulsing techno that takes no prisoners, sucking you into a futuristic padded cell, where the vocal taunts you “it’s sex o’clock, on the dot, tick tock, I’ll never stop”, while familiar sounding classic acid house & Detroit influences work their magic, inducing a state of intoxicated paranoia. Resistance is futile. Matias Aguayo is up next, keeping that old school acid house vibe and adding a little funk, very 1987, but the production is much better. So it’s left up to Jamie Lidell to freak the fuck out of it, and he most certainly does with his Sex O’Cloak n Dagger remix, cranking up the distortion on an overloaded low slung bumping groove, whilst firing off all manner of horror film Fun House electronics. Take a trip if you dare.
