An unusual statement of punk showboating at the mercy of far-flung Manchester forces; ‘Taxi is Driving’ – Total Recall’s Johnny Cab system in mind? – transmits stuttered guitar signals, and ‘Open Your Eyes’ gets possessed by fun-loving, Whistle-listening martians. At their rawest, ‘What Does That Smile Mean?’ is legitimate indie disdain beside the scornful, steam-building head of ‘Yacht One’.
