It’s a little over a year since LV passed away, but musically for a lot of his fans from back-in-the-day the last decade he’s been lost down a schmaltzy middle-of-the-road path. Stop press: we’ve found the real Luther on this amazing (and I don’t use that word lightly) return to his late-70s disco roots as producers Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis deliver a song straight out of his Change songbook with a vocal performance to match. The Freemasons also rise to the challenge delivering their best remix to date that rides licks from Chic’s hedonistic past culminating in a future classic. Taken from Luther’s forthcoming “Ultimate” collection, this really does underline what a tragic loss to the club scene his passing was. Shine? This glows mighty, mighty bright.
