One can only be amazed. From the Ritzys to a lot of the cooler clubs and definitely all kind of gay discos, there’s hardly a dancefloor that’s resisting to Madonna’s new album. Thanks to Stuart Price’s talent and good ear, the girl is back where she started, knocking catchy dancey-pop of the best kind. Even if Abba isn’t your bag (and who can blame you), you cannot have escaped the pleasurable rush of energy that ‘Hung Up’ has sent – and still does – to dancers the world over. Second single ‘Sorry’, the strongest song on ‘Confessions On A Dancefloor’, is ready to roll and already causing mayhem. A clever combination of ‘French touch’ synths, Brit 4/4 oomph and timeless disco chords, the single mix is unstoppable. Despite the fast tempo the Man With Guitar mix is a little deep but a fine rework nonetheless (Price in one of his many guises). The song was crying out for an anthemic pumping mix and here it is, Pet Shop Boys come back with a bang thanks to an efficient peaktime rendition. Fairly commercial with dramatic breakdowns, this storming makeover offers the campest pop hit you’ve heard for quite a while.
