Sweden’s Peter Major alias Opolopo is one of the biggest weapons of soulful Disco sounds for quite some years now thanks to numerous productions, remixes and of course an outstanding artist album on Joey Negro’s Z Records. For his newest offering the man teamed up with songstress Angela Johnson to re-interpret one of The Brand New Heavies finest classics, ‘Stay This Way’. You can expect the meticulously working Opolopo to come up with something special, but this version of a really hard to cover Original blows away a roof or two. The instrumentation (and yes there is a very useful Instrumental included) is simply amazing as everything the term FUNK stands for, is included here in perfection. Driving guitars match with a killer bass line and ride alongside sweet keys and pounding beats. Angela Johnsons great voice adds some extra spice to it and makes this an essential purchase all in all.
Highly recommended, not only if you are a TBNH fan.
