It’s crazy to think this is the first album proper from Matt Edwards as Radio Slave, who has tended to operate with EPs and extended single releases until now. Here we get the best of his minimal style, the emphasis always on the first principles of dance – rhythm and bass. To that end ‘Geisterstadt’ is brilliant, channelling Carl Craig at his best, while ‘No Words / Just This’ has a strut to its beat. ‘Draw’ is sublime, while ‘Feel The Same’ is a jacking house track and ‘Axis’ has a driving undercarriage. Characteristically the best tracks have a timeless feel – ‘Axis’ is twelve and a half minutes – but even then you want them to go on for longer.
