Still Corners found the Kentish town of Deal was the inspiration for third album ‘Dead Blue’. Having been on tour the pair were clearly in need of some perspective, and although they seem to have found it here, there is a dark and mysterious undercurrent that continues to run through their music. Together with the distinctive vocals of Tessa Murray this makes an enchanting set of songs from the duo, from the layered vocals of ‘Down With Heaven And Hell’ to the revealing ‘Bad Country’, where the lyrics talk of how ‘we lost our way, we had a breakdown’. At times Still Corners have an inner confidence that brings impressive poise to their electronic pop, but it’s when the sense of mystery and darkness surfaces that their music makes an even stronger impact. A captivating listen.
