Detroit mega-stiffie-alert! Dust Science has rapidly established itself as such a formidable techno force thatBlack Dog are rumoured to be making their comeback here. Even that’s hard to beat the presence of a true Motor City original as Anthony ‘Shake’ Shakir makes his debut. He’s been making electronic forays since the early 80s, including a stint with Metroplex, and the class shines through. ‘The Random Hustle’ steams ahead riddled with twisting, turning synth riffs which compliment and collide to form an exhilerating strain of future-funk. The Curtis Mayfield-ish wah-wah shimmer is a master-touch. ‘Function Electric’ is an uplifting, UR-Mayday-style belter topped with vocoder, while ‘Dub In Fuzztone’ marries Detroit strings with Nu-Groove pads over a heartbeat pulse to major effect. Absolute quality.
