This year will see the mighty Soma unveiling a bevy of new singings,
including 20-year-old Massi, who’s already impressed on Trapez, Frankie,
Safari Electronique and Mat Tolfrey’s Leftroom label. Here he hooks up with
another boy, Spain’s Santiago Ferrer, who’s released on Ovum and runs his
own Disco De Lata and Options imprints. This is their first outing together
and their laptops must have sprouted legs and huge penises before getting
down to the serious business of making sweet music together. ‘Nerd Soul’ is
nagging, ringtone techno, ‘Nerd Life’ inserts weird bends into an all-round
cyber-onslaught while ‘Nerd Beats’ features a noises not unlike a sink being
unblocked. Even after 15 years there’s no stopping this label moving ever
forward into fresh pastures and alien galaxies.
