VARIOUS ARTISTS – TOO SLOW TO DISCO: BRASIL COMPILED BY ED MOTTA – HOW DO YOU ARE?

For the last few years, the appearance of May has meant another instalment in the Too Slow To Disco series – which on this occasion switches continent and coast to Brazil. Ed Motta has the perfect CV to dig the crates for them here, and he obliges with a selection of 19 tracks that keep the approach of the earlier volumes alive – bright, very breezy and, of course, just that bit too slow to get the feet moving regularly! That won’t stop some shaking a leg to tracks like ‘Guarde Minha Voz’ from Sandra De Sá, a great bit of ‘80s flavour. The brassy interactions for Cassiano’s ‘Rio Best-Seller’ are pure sunshine, while the husky vocals for Zeca Do Trombone’s ‘Rota-Mar’ have an equally strong hot climate pull. The energy of Kiko Zambianchi’s ‘Estréia’ is infectious, but contrast that with the ultimate in poolside vibes from Biafra’s ‘Leão Ferido’, a brilliant combination of pure emotion and an indulgence of cheese. As ever a hugely enjoyable and eye opening compilation from this source, bringing sunshine to even the darkest room.
