Asobi Seksu the Japanese / New York outfit that are doing the do at the
moment, are set to release an Xmas single with a difference. “Merry
Christmas (I Don’t Want To Fight Tonight)” was originally recorded and
released by The Ramones in 1989. Asobi Seksu have kept Da Bruvvers speed
riffing blue print, but they’ve added their own distinctive sparkle to it,
as Yuki’s dreamy vocals float on a fuzzy wall of sound, and with the results
coming over like classic Blondie, this deserves to be a big seasonal hit. On
the flip the festive spirit continues with “New Years”, a driving
atmospheric cut from Asobi Seksu’s current album “Citrus”.
