Having played alongside Nicole Moudaber and Christian Smith at the Trade 25 Anniversary and Berghain’s Boris at Trade’s 30th, Kyle E is primed for its return on Saturday February 25th.
A stellar backbone to Egg’s LDN’s Saturday night Techno events, Kyle has shared the stage with some of the biggest and most iconic DJs in their field, known for his striking house n techno sets. As Egg LDN’s International musical ambassador too, he’s notched up dates at the Sonar and ADE events, played for Amnesia in Ibiza as well as touring Brazil and Japan. No slouch when it comes to production too,Kyle’s debut release ‘Illusion’ was snapped up for John Digweed’s ‘Live On South Beach’ compilation and he’s released tracks on the Muak, Familia and What Came First labels.
We catch up with him ahead of Trade on Saturday February 25th…
A regular DJ on the Trade line up, what are you most excited for/looking forward to at Trade on Saturday February 25th and do you make special preparations in the run up to the event?
Trade is always a special party, as it feels like the whole community always comes together for a big link up. Preparing my set for Trade somehow is always more work as I know it is one of the most important crowds to play for. I’m really excited to see my friends Anahita and Somme play for their first time at Trade.
Known for you deep techno and tech house music style, who are you most looking forward to hearing on the day and what marks them out?
To be fair I’m looking forward to just wondering around the venue and see who catches my ear.
What’s been your favourite times at Trade both as a DJ and also as a clubber?
D.J wise the Trade 25th birthday was really special…playing alongside Nina Kraviz was such a blast also hosting the Trade stage at Tobacco Dock was a night I’ll never forget especially when Laurence the Trade founder got hold of the mic!
As a clubber, the party in 2022 was epic I think it went on for 24+ hours…we had such a laugh.
What music, clubs or scenes inspired you to get into music and make a career in it or was it other influences?
I was lucky to grow up in a household the was very musically orientated, listening to many genres from garage to funky house was a normal therefore it was a natural progression to end up in music. I have never felt like I woke up one day and decided, it all happened. I still love it and love to stay constantly inspired by other creatives from all walks of life not just clubs.
You’re also Saturday night Resident DJ at Egg LDN, and are also producing music, and can you tell us about your last release and what you’re currently working on?
We are currently working on ’20 years of Egg London’ with some amazing plans but I can’t say anything yet!
Are there any unique stories about your musical journey that you can share with us and what have been your highlights so far?
It’s quite funny that I started working at Egg London the week after I turned 18 and somehow I’m still here! I can never thank the team for all the support & help as I’ve toured the world and it’s given me a platform to help showcase my ideas.
Challenges along the way?
Working in such a competitive industry is always a challenge as popularity sometimes outweighs talent. However the music always speaks for itself.
