Yotam Avni, known for bridging genres, has produced for Stereo MC’s and Catz N Dogz, with releases on LW Recordings, Culture Vulture, and Seasons Limited. As he gets set to release his new collaborative ‘Retro’ EP with Khen on Last Night On Earth, DMCWorld goes Back To Mine with Yotam Avni.
Zoe Polanski – Violent Flowers
Zoe Polanski is a singer-songwriter and creator of wonderful indie electronic pop music. Her album “Violent Flowers” is highly recommended. It features a very unique blend of somber ambient sounds and melancholic guitar picking. It’s melancholic music, but very comforting.
LOUD – 5 Billion Stars
This is one of the greatest electronic music albums of all time, and it’s hardly known to the world. If European media were paying more attention to Psy Trance, they would have crowned this right next to Aphex Twin and Tangerine Dream.
Roi Azulay – Satori
The latest new talent on Joe Claussel’s label is a good friend of mine by the name Roi. Joe Claussel is probably one of the only artists that I still collect physical copies of his music. Joe’s “Sacred Rhythm” offers the highest quality sounding soulful music in its highest form, you can’t find these on Spotify its mostly physical copy exclusive.
Om – Wheels Of Light
Dennis Ferrer & Tetsu Inoue made a New-Age-Trance-Ambient album in 1993. And I just discovered it this year, super trippy, super cool.
Joachim Spieth – Ultradian
When it comes to simple, classic ambient music, I think he’s the best out there. Much respect to Joachim for turning a side-project into such a major contribution to his catalog.
Jack DeJohnette · Ravi Coltrane · Matt Garrison – Alabama
An amazing album by a legendary group of musicians, dreamy, minimalist-melancholic music that leaves plenty of room for daydreaming. An album I listen to on repeat during long flights.
ALVA NOTO feat MARTIN L. GORE / WILLIAM BASINSKI – Subterraneans (David Bowie cover)
A rare, one-time gathering of musicians in honor of Record Store Day celebrations. Basinski, Martin Gore, and Alva Noto deliver a hair-raising cover of David Bowie. One of the most beautiful electro-acoustic works ever created.
Munir Bashir – L’Art du ‘Ud (The Art of the Ud)
As a World-Music sampling nerd, I listen to a lot of Middle Eastern music. Munir Bashir was a legendary Middle Eastern musician, widely considered one of the greatest players of the oud (a traditional Arabic string instrument similar to a lute).
Yagya – Rhythm of Snow
This Icelandic producer is such an underrated talent. Super unique take on Dub Techno meets Ambient that sounds like no other and yet so needed more of. This is, without a doubt, one of the greatest deep Techno albums ever made.
Bobby McFerrin & Chick Corea – Play
Bobby is one of my all-time heroes. I actually went on stage with him once at one of his totally improvised live concerts – the greatest moment of my life so far. This album by Bobby & Legendary Jazz Pianist Chick Corea is a masterpiece and definitely the album that I sampled the most from.
Khen and Yotam Avni ‘Retro’ lands on Last Night On Earth on April 24th 2026.
