Mark Rae Ft. Spikey Tee ‘Throne’ (Yves Schopin Remix) Mark’s Music

Fresh off the back of his superb remix of Rae & Christian’s Soul anthem ‘Spellbound’, young French producer / remixer Yves Schopin now brings his magic to Mark Rae & Spikey Tee’s classic, ‘Throne’. Yves flips the original’s 65bpm to double time at 130bpm, injecting an extensive use of steel pans, adding vibes to Spikey’s lyrics about the experiences of the Windrush generation. The track features the Saxophone by Jazz heavyweight Chip Wickham (Gondwana), who toured extensively with Rae & Christian. ‘Throne’ originally closed out Mark Rae’s debut solo album, ‘Rae Road’ (Grand Central Records, 2002), and is a beautifully delivered and lyrically astute tear down of the erroneous ways of Babylon/capitalism, and its effects on those who are not welcome within its system. In a world facing increasingly difficult times, it is a message whose relevance has only grown since the songs first release.
