Even if this wasn’t a charity CD to benefit former child soldiers it would still walk away with the compilation of the week gong, as it’s a great mix showing what Permanent Vacation do best. Straight in at the deep end with classy disco from 40 Thieves, it’s a set that grows in to the swirly synths of Walter Jones’ ‘I Am Loved’, the piano heaven that is the Jacques Renault remix of Midnight Magic’s ‘Beam Me Up’ and then a couple of excellent tracks from Woolfy vs Projections, ‘Return Of Starlight’ ending the mix in its Invisible Conga people guise. What makes this work so well is the mixing, with each disco house delight blending into the next almost imperceptibly. It’s feel good throughout too, leaving a smile on your face long after you’ve danced yourself into the ground.
