TRISH VAN EYNDE & SAM OSTYN

There’s no question that if women DJs were in higher numbers, clubs – and raves in particular – would be far more enjoyable places to go to. Here Trish Van Eynde (with partner Sam Ostyn) shows why she’s the Belgian leading lady of techno and looks set to make it soon on a global scale. Whereas today’s techno rarely offers more than one idea per track ‘Juice’ with its wonky groove (light industrial breakbeat, rough hi-hats & schyzo stabs) instantly stands out for sounding… well, different (135 BPM). ‘Gravity’ is harder but never aggressive, just loony and driving. On the flip Oxia’s great remix of ‘Juice’ kick things up one gear with a reinterpretation that feels like Lil Louis’ ‘French Kiss’ on steroids (134).
